Accelerated Lab Testing
Wind whip
The rating is based on the fabric’s ability to resist wind whip. Both samples were subjected to 60 mph winds. Shelter-Rite resisted fraying and tearing much better than other laminated fabrics.
Tear strength
The rating is based on the fabric’s strength to resist tearing. Shelter-Rite’s base fabric has twice as many strands than most commonly used laminate materials. Also providing an advantage is the fact that the base fabric is woven in Shelter-Rite compared to being layered in most laminates.
Coating adhesion strength
Adhesion measures the strength of the bond between the base fabric and coating. Shelter-Rite uses an adhesive coat layer to create the highest adhesion strength possible. Strong adhesion helps resist wear due to wind whip. Laminates have good adhesion, but the construction of the base fabric combined with this adhesion actually lowers tear resistance. Shelter-Rite strikes an appropriate balance between adhesion and tear resistance.
Puncture testing
Puncture resistance plays a direct roll in preventing tears in your fabric. Since Shelter-Rite is made from tightly woven threads, there are little to no gaps between the yarns. This creates a higher puncture resistance. In laminate fabrics, the layered threads allow for more gaps between yarns making it more susceptible to punctures.
UV resistance
The PVC coating on Shelter-Rite is evenly spread across the base fabric and provides excellent UV protection. This helps prevent things such as color change or spotty fading of color on your fabric. Laminate fabric tends to be lighter in weight and has an uneven coating to protect against UV rays.
Rush-Co only offers fabric options that will meet all of our customer’s needs. With an industry leading warranty, only Rush-Co Marine regularly tests fabrics for tear strength, abrasion resistance, coating adhesion, stitch and seam strength, cold flex and wind whip.

Field Proven " American Made" Fabric
Shelter-Rite® SLT13 by Seaman Corporation
Rush-Co’s development team worked with Seaman Corporation engineers to design a new proprietary fabric specifically for Boat Lift Canopies. The foundation of this new LIGHTWEIGHT Shelter-Rite SLT13 is identical to the Shelter-Rite 18oz fabric except the underside coating was reformulated and reduced to 1.5 ounces. We are able to reduce the weight of the fabric while maintaining the same tear resistance, ultra violet and anti-fungal protection, and water tightness as SR18. All cross seams are heat welded (not sewn). SLT 13 will not stretch, shrink or rot.

Shelter-Rite® SR18 by Seaman Corporation
This “Made in America Premium Fabric” is engineered to meet and exceed Rush-Co’s extensive performance criteria. Shelter-Rite® is an 18-oz PVC-coated high-tenacity polyester material that will not rot, shrink or stretch and offers unparalleled adhesion (to reduce wind whip), color match and colorfastness. This is the best PVC-coated fabric we have ever worked with from anywhere in the world. We have used tens of millions of yards in far more severe applications than marine, and it out-performs all others. These covers are also constructed by using heat-welded seams in the main body of the cover to create a waterproof environment for your boat.

Harbor-Time™
Harbor-Time™ is a “Premium Woven Polyester, American-Made Fabric” that has an extremely durable “pigment-stable” acrylic coating on both sides of the material. An acrylic coating retains a beautiful soft cloth appearance and insures a long cover life. Harbor-Time™ fabric was designed for high-UV and high-moisture environments and is superior to all other leading fabrics we have tested. With a Harbor-Time™ canopy, you will get compliments on the inviting appearance.

SeaMark®
Is a durable combination of Sunbrella (woven acrylic uncoated fabric) and Haartz (a textured marine-grade vinyl coating) that results in a colorfast, waterproof fabric. SeaMark fabric has been engineered to stand up to moisture, sun, wind, and temperature extremes experienced with outdoor use. This vinyl-backed Sunbrella with sewn cross seams uses a highly UV resistant industrial thread. The vinyl backing is color coordinated with the Sunbrella cloth top. SeaMark is a 15oz fabric. An average cover weighs 54 pounds.
